Mid Missouri Trout Unlimited Driftless Trip 2023

This May, nine members of Mid Missouri Trout Unlimited Chapter 493 took a trip to southwest Wisconsin for a camping and fly fishing trip. Staying in the heart of the Driftless Region, chapter members enjoyed time on the stream catching brown and brook trout. At night, you could find them telling tales of days gone by and enlightening newer members on the history of the chapter and the impact members have had over the years.

The chapter has now made this trip two years in a row and many are hoping the tradition continues. See below for a few highlights of the trip.

Access on the Blue River near the campground. The Blue was a favorite among chapter members.

Borah Creek access. Typical Driftless Region characteristics. Barbed wire fences and cows in the stream.

View from the campground. Doesn't get much better.

Typical evening in camp.

Meeting of the minds. Figuring out where to fish for the day.

A Driftless gem.

Chapter members Curt and Eric climbed Castle Rock, which overlooked the campsite.

Mike Kruse near an access point on the Big Green.

Travis in pursuit of evening risers.

Pheasant tailed nymph - many members had success on this style of fly throughout the trip

Sulfur emerger and scud - another popular combination on the trip.

Lots of memories were made on this trip and there is never a bad day on the stream. We hope to see you on next year's trip! Follow along for where the chapter is headed next!
